* Intro to Metaphysics by Henri Bergson: An Introduction to Metaphysics (Introduction a la Metaphysique) is a 1903 essay by Henri Bergson that explores the concept of reality. For Bergson reality occurs not in a series of discrete states but as a process similar to that described by the Greek philosopher Heraclitus. * The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius: The 12 books of the Meditations in Koine Greek as a source for his own guidance and self-improvement. It is possible that large portions of the work were written at Sirmium where he spent much time planning military campaigns from 170 to 180.

* Walden by Henry David Thoreau: First published in 1854 Walden details Thoreau's experiences over the course of two years two months and two days in a cabin he built near Walden Pond amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson near Concord Massachusetts. Thoreau used this time to write his first book.
