GPS Topography / Description

GPS Topography is a free app which uses the GPS of your phone to give you the posiblility to perform topographical surveys only with your phone. In addition it provides a powerful topographic calculator that allows you to recalculate quickly polygons previously calculated as a check.

The topography has never been so easy this application allows you to generate a DXF file while the points are drawn so you can easily see the topography of the terrain specially designed for field checks and quick area calculations anywhere.

Measure

Pressing this option will open a map of Google Maps with a red triangle in its current position (taken from the GPS of your device). You can scroll through the map zoom in or out according to your needs. By clicking on the Satellite button you can toggle between the map and satellite photo view. When you tap the screen create a polygon point you must create at least 3 points for a quick calculation of the properties of the polygon. To return to your current position press the Current Position button. To undo the last movement (last point) press the Return button on the left side of the screen.

When you finish drawing your polygon press the OK button which will show you an announcement (thanks for supporting the development of this app) and proceed to the respective calculations and the generation of a folder whose name will be of the form: "name_project" + "Date" (the data that is entered in the main menu.) This folder will be at the GPS_Topography_Projects folder located in the internal storage of your device.

Inside 3 files will be generated: 1 DXF file with the polygon you drew on the Maps screen ready to import into your favorite CAD program. 1 PDF file containing a detailed report of the drawn polygon containing the respective calculations for the calculation of the area. The final total coordinates of the polygon are compensated by means of the Pennsylvania method which distributes the error in all the boundaries of the polygon that is to say that the coordinates presented in the last table of the report are compensated coordinates. 1 TXT file with one line for each point of the polygon of the form: IdEstacion X Y Z.

Recalculate

Selecting this option will open the Terrain Data screen where you must enter the initial coordinates of your polygon (coordinates of the first station E-0) in meters. And select if the terrain is easy or difficult to measure this to know what maximum acceptable closing error. When you press the Work button it will take you to the data entry screen where at the beginning a window will appear showing the drawing of the polygon you are entering. In the lower part of the screen you can enter the distance and azimuth of each station (the first entry will be the distance and azimuth data measured from E-0 to E-1 and so on).

From the third point that you enter the Last Point box will be enabled where you must indicate to the app if the point you are entering is the last point of the polygon or not. If you select Yes the app automatically closes the polygon and performs the calculations and proceeds to generate the project folder and the respective files inside. That is if the current point is E-3 and you press Yes in the Last Point box the app automatically creates a boundary from E-3 to E-0 closes the polygon and compensates for the coordinates with the Pennsylvania method.
