About the District Courts of Appeal:
The Florida District Courts of Appeal are the intermediate appellate courts of the Florida state court system. There are six district courts of appeal each overseeing specific regions of the state. These courts handle appeals from trial courts and administrative agencies.
The District Courts of Appeal are responsible for reviewing final orders of trial courts as well as certain non-final orders. They also have jurisdiction to issue extraordinary writs such as writs of certiorari prohibition mandamus quo warranto and habeas corpus.
Decisions made by the District Courts of Appeal are final unless the Florida Supreme Court or the US Supreme Court chooses to review them. Each court is composed of a panel of judges who review the arguments presented by the parties and make determinations based on the law and evidence.
