Samsung is a South Korean company founded in 1938 by Lee Byung-Chul. The Chairman of the Board is Lee Kun-Hee. Samsung is a group of various companies the most important of which is Samsung Electronics.

Samsung has shown rapid growth outside of Korea in the 1990s. Unlike other Asian companies it survived the 1997 Asian Economic Crisis almost undamaged. He had to exit the automotive business by selling Samsung Motor Co. founded only by Nissan to Renault. During this period investments were made in electronic components and Samsung Electronics was transformed into the most active company within the Samsung group. The construction company of the group also attracted attention with the construction of Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur during this period. Samsung Electronics achieved record growth and profits in 2000-2005 and is ranked 2nd in the world's most valuable brands.

Samsung has received and is receiving design technology and patent awards for many products in America and Europe. It operates in many fields such as electronics (television telephone computer) automotive medicine space research. Samsung is producing satellites in South Korea almost alone.
